A Virginia man faces DUI charges and other counts after crashing his pickup truck through the Lord Delaware Bridge near West Point (Virginia) and plunging 70 feet into the Mattaponi River.

Remarkably, the driver. Justin Anthony Taylor, 26, of the Shacklefords community in King and Queen County suffered minor injuries in yesterday's plunge, which occurred shortly after 7 a.m.,

Taylor, who was taken by ambulance to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester to be checked out, later was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Reckless Driving and Refusal to take a blood test.

"Sounds like he was a very lucky man," said Sgt. Tom Cunningham, a state police spokesman.

Lucky because he is alive or because he wasn't also charged by the Virginia State Police with "Boating While Intoxicated?"
