Illinois' Geneva Sun reports in spite of what his attorney referred to as "a very good case," Todd Exline, former corrections chief for Kane County, Illinois entered a plea of guilty to driving under the influence last year on Friday, April 18.
Exline, a 47-year-old former sheriff's lieutenant, took a plea deal for one DUI count, accepting one year under court supervision.
According to his attorney, after a unanimous vote in March by the Kane County Sheriff's Merit Commission to fire him, Exline said he just wanted to be finished with the matter. Camic said the plea was all Exline's decision.
Exline also agreed to 10 hours of outpatient alcohol treatment, attendance at a victim-impact panel, and payment of fines and costs worth $1,530. His license was not, and will not be, suspended because a Breathalyzer test was not administered.
On June 29, 2007, a witness called police to report Exline for erratic driving. He was stopped on the east side of Geneva, Illinois and charged three days later with drunken driving (DUI).
