Florida's Bradenton Herald reports that on May 19, the Florida Attorney's Office dropped the charges of DUI manslaughter against a man who had been accused of killing a pedestrian in 2007.
Twenty-seven-year-old Bradenton resident Ronnie Friddle had been charged in the death of 46-year-old Lisa Ryan on April 11, 2007. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, Ryan was walking on the shoulder when she was struck by Friddle's truck, which had swerved off the road.
According to reports, troopers believed that Friddle was impaired and discovered prescription pills in his truck bed.
On Monday, Friddle pleaded no contest to charges including possession of a controlled substance, said his defense Attorney, Brett McIntosh. Circuit Judge Janette Dunnigan sentenced Friddle to two years of probation on those charges, McIntosh said.
